Welcome, my fellow Van Life WannaBes! If you’re here reading this, you’re probably a lot like me. Although all of our stories are different, you probably want to simplify life and spend your time and money on the things you enjoy, instead of feeling like your lifestyle is being dictated to you.
You’ve probably watched a whole bunch of YouTube videos… and maybe even visited some RV shows and drooled over the $100,000+ vans, because nothing says “simple life” like going into debt for the rest of your life.
So you’ve got the dream in your heart, but for whatever reason, you aren’t able to or haven’t committed to Van Life just yet. It’s a big step, and the people around may think you’re crazy.
Is Van Life Right for You?
And that brings us to the very reason for this website. You shouldn’t be asking whether van life is right for you. You’re asking the wrong question!
And so, my fellow van life wannabes: ask not whether van life is right for you—ask HOW van life can be right for you.
Yeah, that was me channeling my inner JFK. His message may have been more important to the country, but this message is huge for us individually. Stop wondering if you can do Van Life! You’re here right now reading this. That’s a pretty big indicator that you want to. So, really the only question is how you can make Van Life fit your life.
And that’s the real goal. Through this website, you’ll be able to follow along on my eventual path to Van Life over the next few years, and hopefully, I can bring knowledge and ideas that will help you on your journey.
Our Personal Version of Van Life
Let’s get one thing clear. Our definition of Van Life doesn’t have to involve an actual van. I think Van Life is more an idea that applies to the way you live than the exact vehicle you use to follow that lifestyle.
In the years ahead, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of various vehicles you could use. We’ll break down the systems you’ll need to succeed in the lifestyle, whether you want to go with a full RV-style set-up or the most simplistic approach possible. We’ll also explore the places you can go and where you will spend your nights. I’m excited to actually take my first steps, and I hope I can help some of you start planning the path to your individual Van Life.
Stop Dreaming and Start Planning!
Even though in your regular life, your Van Life dreams are looked at as being strange or idealistic, I promise you there are a whole lot of grown adults who share that dream and just don’t know how to get there. Yeah, I think there are a whole lot of VanLife WannaBes out there that just don’t shout about it to the world.
I don’t think it’s wise to spend a bunch of money and jump right into the lifestyle without really knowing the pros and cons. Instead, let’s gain some knowledge and build a plan for us to get where we want to go!
